It has been said that people remember exactly where they were and what they were doing when the news of the assassination occurred. I was in study hall in high school, junior year and the the speakers came on with the radio broadcast.
The center set looks to be a black and white model, possible with remote control.

Mom told me it was a scary time. My father served two years in the Army, 1955-57 and when you got out, you were on inactive reserve for 5 years. She was scared my father would end up getting called up for service but he received his final discharge during the Cuban Missile Crisis. If things were different, I might have never been born. I'm sure a lot of people then were lugging transistor radios with them.
