AFAIK, the Porta-Color chassis, seemed to be designed around the CRT size. The 10" CRT is a 70 degree and doesn't require a large horizontal output stage and they didn't need a real high 2nd anode voltage.
Ge built larger screen portable sets that used similar circuitry, but they were designed for a larger CRT, with different sweep and HV circuitry.
