I have a very vague recollection of seeing an early Japanese manual tuned model with an eye tube... JVC first comes to mind, but Sharp or Toshiba or even Sears could be possibilities as well.
I remember thinking at the time that the "eye" looked out of place on a "modern" TV. The "blue band" (whatever it was called) at the top of the screen on some early Sony models seemed more fitting to the technology of the time.
