If it really bugs you, then you could look for another thrift that would take it.
I rob SS sets of any caps over 50V rated, power resistors, the yoke, the fly/HV wires, and anything else I might find use for in other sets and projects when ever I can....On some free sets I scrap the money I save reusing caps alone make it worth my time.
An SS set has to be pretty early or interesting for me loose sleep over parting it out.
