Sounds like some bad caps in the horz circuit or maybe the diodes.
Fix it up. The store brands are really rare now All the parts on that are fairly interchangeable with rca, that shouldnt be an issue.
A far as the cabinet goes just put duck tape over the bad spots, add a few cigarette burns and water rings and it will be fine.
