Thanks for the information about solid state power supplies. I probably will keep this one just running on batteries since I seem to get a better signal-to-noise ratio for some reason especially on distant stations than on AC-powered radios. Plus for some reason I just like knowing the fact that it's running on batteries!
I may upgrade to 60, AA cells using some 8 AA battery holders plus a 4-cell holder. I saw a real good deal on AA cells in a mega-pack recently.
I'll just have to see how long the 9-volts last.
