Motorola liked to use non-standard tubes, circuits, etc in their TVs. I have a 1965(it has UHF) 19 inch B&W portable. The set works well on the DTV converter box . The set has tubes such as 9A8s, etc and an oddball high voltage rectifier(not the usual 1X2 or 1B3) and other odd ball tubes. I did have a Motorola fiber jet from the 1950s(sent it to another VideoKarma member) and the horizontal output tube was cracked. Of course it was not a 6DQ6, 12DQ6, or 17DQ6 as with most tvs of its era, but some oddball type that I did not have. Finally, I have seen Motorola use two 3CB6 tubes in series in a transformer set where most of the tubes are 6 volt. I guess they thought they were saving a penny or two.
