I have worked on a LOT of these sets, not lately though, I think this one has the "split board" system, where the deflection board is seperate from the signal board. I do NOT think you have a HOT failure. More likely--the "MCZ" SMPS control chip has failed, for the HV generator.
ON your set--there are probably 2 of these. They are an 18 or 20-pin IC, located near the front of the set, close to the AC line comes in. If your set tries to come on and then goes back off, without ever producing a pix, the chip nearest the flyback is likely bad--but I would replace BOTH chips. If your chips say "MCZ3001D" without A "B" after the D, they DEFINITELY need to be replaced.
