You can see the Sams photo better at the ETF site. Indeed, those appear to be adjustments behind holes in the front panel.
Actually I find that rather convenient. Adjusting things that affect the picture from the back of a TV is sometimes quite problematic, requiring a mirror. Here they had an original approach to solving that problem. If the holes were pretty small, as they appear to be, it might be a reasonable tradeoff between function and looks.
I don't have a Garod, but I think they have an unusual and interesting cabinet design.
