Once it's in the recycling site it becomes the property of the local Council. What they do with it is anyone's guess (probably ship it to China so 9 year old kids can strip out the copper and drop everything else in a hole).
ED in TX. I guess stripping to re-use the bits requires more knowledge than I have; just had another look at it and its an LG, not a Sony. Screen size is 4 ft diagonal. Damage to glass isn't as bad as I first thought but unless it's just a matter of taking the case apart and replacing the glass it's beyond me.
My guess is it's an insurance write off from a customer with a 'new for old' policy.
