I have little doubt that I would not have ever been conceived and born had we not dropped those two bombs on Japan.
My father was drafted into the U.S. Army Air Corps in early 1942 and did not get out until the war was over. His outfit was scheduled to participate in the invasion campaign of Japan prior to dropping the bombs. Of course, this changed history and no invasion took place. Fortunately he was able to come home in one piece.
