I've been through that with old cars - went to a meeting of the local Mopar club once and actually had the president berate my '66 Chrysler because it wasn't a Charger or Barracuda or Road Runner. That was sixteen years ago, and although I know things have changed I have no desire to join the car club.
I don't need the approval of a bunch of people to validate my hobbies, but it is nice that there's such a fine group of people here on AudioKarma that share information and support each others' interests.
Doug, the folks that run down your sets can't accept that things change and as the older folks pass on and younger folks come into any hobby, interests naturally tend to shift towards newer products. Sure, there will always be interest in the 40's & 50's sets, but now there are people collecting stuff made in the 80's too. The 80's sets aren't generally my cup of tea, but I appreciate the people saving those too and wouldn't discount them all as crap - that's a pretty narrow way of looking at things.
