for many years now i have been very disappointed with what hollywood throws our way. although the technology exists to present us with dazzeling special effects and production quality to the likes that we have never seen, they are consistant with poor quality story lines and paper mache character development. so rings true with this film.
i was very excited when i saw the trailer for star trek, i was hoping that it might be worth the 50 bucks this time around. WRONG!
perhaps i was having difficulty separating myself from the original series, but i was not all impressed with the new characters and the way they interacted. none of them had the zing of the originals, and i understand that since it takes years for the writers to develop them, but nonetheless there was a strange oddity that i can not explain that bothered me about that.
the ship exterior and interior was outstanding, but the engineering section looked like a borrowed set from the "hunt for red october". you would think that with the capabilities of light speed that they would be able to do away with nuts and bolts. guess even in the future, snap-on will play an important role in space exploration.
kirk kinda slid in the capt`s chair by default,
you would think the great captain of the flag ship of the federation would have a more meaningful
development. :yes
spock and uhura? wow that was unexpected, guess he wanted to follow in his father`s foot steps. so much for vulcan disciplines, whats next??? humor??? fibbing???? or maybe he was just planning ahead when he was deep in space needed a backup when he would experience "pon far".
oh yeah, what is red matter??? to tell you the truth i don`t really want to find out..............................
even with all these flaws i will give it an honest 6/10 since the production was very good.
