Have you tried any tests on it yet? Such as, open it up and check the voltages on various tuner pins as you tune it through the band, change it from VHF to UHF, etc. Also, if it has a discrete tuner with a Sony part number (in the #-###-###-## format), look up that number on Google and see if you find anything else about it. Ideally, other sets used the same tuner and had a cable-ready mode, accessed by changing voltages on different tuner pins, but this may be unlikely on a tuner in these tiny sets. I also have an old Watchman here, but I hadn't though about modifying it for the 420-450 band. If I get a chance, I will let you know what I find out.
