While that predates them, some Heathkits had a similar feature. An Aunt of mine who worked for Sears in Chick-ogg-oh had a Sears brand set which featured a tilt out control panel (user adjustments, not repairman flavor). Don't recall much about it, but this was the first color set in the family.....musta been late 60's or so.
