zenithfan1 I love 'em too! I don't see how a person couldn't. That is so freakin' cool that it is your childhood set. There must be an amazing amount of memories attached to it. I wish my childhood set was this cool. We had an '81 "sears" set with a three button electronic ultrasonic remote. The remote quit working in about '90, I fixed it but it only lasted another year. The set died in about '95, had billions of hours on it and the CRT went dead, I threw it in a dumpster after kicking in the front.

just kidding of course.
I consider myself very fortunate that this set is still in the family. I do have lots of great memories in front of that set and of course, Christmas, when my mom would put on the Holiday, Sing a long with Mitch record. There has not been a Christmas in my life, save one when I was restoring the tuner/amp when that record wasn't played. It just isn't the holidays without Christmas music playing through that ol thing.
My mother just LOVED it when I, at 4 years old, just got such a kick out of the sound it made when I rammed my toy truck into the leg of set. She always said that I just got the biggest thrill out of that and she just got furious. LOL Ahh, good times. LOL
That tv to me is kind of like that old Twilight Zone episode with the old man and the grandfather clock. He felt that if it wasn't maintained and constantly wound and if it stopped, so would he. Now I don't mean to say that if the set craps out, that I would croak, but a little part of me might, if you get what I mean.
I think we are all just senitimental fools when you get right down to it.
