Chad, that's very encouraging, I must say. That's the same route I'd like to go... I'm lucky enough to have an outdoor antenna with a rotator!
I do have two questions, if I may?
1. What's the terrain like around your place?
2. What's the connection from the recorder to the TV? Did you need to add an RF modulator, or does the recorder (hopefully!) have a built-in RF modulator output to, say, channel 3 or 4?
