The thing on top is a color bar and convergence pattern generator. It's used for setting up the CRT on a color TV. The B+K 1077's have a flying spot scanner to display convergence patterns from a transparency and also generate a variety of other test signals. The last thing with all the switches and lights is a sweep generator for aligning TV and FM IF strips. It's big for what it does, but it's easy to use and absolutely required for aligning TV IFs.
