Great thread! My Dad still sells used TVs in his repair shop. You can't get more than 60 bucks for a decent 19" (remote, AV jacks) around here - a far cry from the 70's/80s when you could get about twice that, more if it was a remote set. The thrift stores have driven the price of used sets way down. Here, we have about 11 chartered thrifts (DAV, SA, Purple Heart, Goodwill, Samaritan House, and many others) that get 25 bucks for their sets, no warranty. Chinese/Funai crap mostly - folks upgrading to LCD and Plasma. Most thrifts get flooded in February and March - folks spending their speedy tax return on a new TV, and donate the old one.

Dad had quite a few sets he sold for just the repair costs. He'd hold a set for 30 days, and then send out a certified letter (Commonwealth of VA law) giving the deadbeats 7 days to pick it up, else it was sold. A lot of nice sets went for 35-50 bucks in the 80s, consoles included. Heck I can remember when a 19" B/W set could sell for 45 bucks. Now? Who wants black and white?
Projection sets are hard to sell for much too.

Cheers,
