The F111 was certainly the bastard child of US bombers.
By the time the F came out, it was about the most capable bomber in the world. An interesting statistic I came across showed that the F111 was by FAR the most successful bomber used in the Gulf War. The first one anyway.
So, of course the next course of action was obvious. They withdrew them from service.....
