I bought a Mitsubishi VCR in 1987 with all sorts of bells and whistles, (you could set the coring to off, so you could copy tapes without the usual degradation), but there was an intermittant bug that would cause the playback to get all smeary. Even after 4 trips for warrenty service they never did get it right....
