Unfortunately these Hitachi OEM sets need extensive electrolytic cap replacement...at least 40 caps. They hold up fine otherwise. The stand is active and turns to follow the remote around the room. When off, the stand turns backwards, hiding the screen.

FWIW, I have been quite happy with my b&o TX-2 tangential tt (but I got it cheap, and was lucky enough to get a reasonably-priced b&o cartridge for it before b&o stopped selling them). |
it looks like a modernized predicta :scratch2:

I've had & sold a few of those. They have a motorized turntable base, which is kinda neat. The chassis and CRT are 100% Hitachi; a good set! Beautiful picture too, has a smoked safety glass. My only beef with them is that there aren't any controls on the TV on most of the models. Lose the remote, no TV!

Here´s my Beovision 7702. The only probem when i found it was that the power cord was cut, and it worked perfectly with a new cord. The picture is bright and clear, and the sound is very good. It has two speakers, bass reflex system and 14 watt amp. The chassis looks like a Philips K11, except this one is much more modern with a lot of ICs. I also has the original all-metal remote control.

B&O it's an excellent tv maker! Televisions made with the best components they can buy and also very "repairman friendly". The appearance may be what hits you but the picture is the best you can get from a modern tv set.No crappy picture tubes,no digital artifacts noticeable on the picture. I own several B&O sets new and older and I must say I never had a single problem. The remote control is also wonderful. Made of zinc and aluminium it works no matter where you point it! It's the only I've ever had I dont have feelings to throw out of the window! Unfortunately in its production B&O also sold sets with inside circuits made by other manufacturers, Despite the B&O appearance they are very poor sets. They are MX 1500 (Philips anubis chassis),MX 2000 (Thomson F11),MX3000 (Thomson),MX4500 (Thomson F14),MX5000 (Thomson F14),LE 6000 (Philips). That's all. Everything else is (very well) made from B&O. I have MX 3500,MX6000,MX7000,LX2502,LX5000,LX6000,Beovision3 ,Beovision1,Beovision7700,Beovision 8800 and I'm very pleased with all of them.Definitely the only tv brand I would buy nowadays.

B&O makes some interesting things. I saw a B&O VHS VCR in England that
was unlike anything I have ever seen. The tape transport looked nothing like the typical VHS layout. It actually used a tape path similar to a Beta VCR ('U' loading instead of 'M' loading like every other VHS). It also had the most incomprehensible user interface imaginable. It took me ages just to set the clock! |
