LG-Phillips
I was watching a BBC newscast this morning, and there was a story about TV sets sold as a result of the World Cup.
In the story, they kept refering to LG-Phillips. I didn't know these two were together? So that makes LG-Phillips-Zenith-Magnavox? It would seem that Lucky Goldstar is some kind of Borg-creature moving about the world, assimulating old, dead brand names. How many actual TV companies are left? I can think of: LG-Phillips-Zenith-Magnavox Thompson-RCA-GE Samsung Sony ...And whoever makes that Orion/Funai crap branded as Sylvania/Admiral/Crosley/Whatever. |
There are still a few Japanese companies that still seem to be around:
Toshiba Sharp Sanyo? Then there are a few companies out there in Korea or China making all those generic plasma and LCD TVs you see in Costco. |
LG and Philips have a joint venture in LCD, plasma and CRT manufacturing. I don't know if they are joining forces for anything else yet. IT hey haven't merged unless it's very recent.
