According to the ETF Pilot Radio was defunct by 1957 so her husband would have been unemployed by the time this set was made!

With this misinformation-and this price-he will have that set for a long time.

I think Pilot did exist through the 60s, perhaps in another form? Have seen ads for higher end audio stuff from them. Now, it seems that just about everyone (except maybe Zenith & a couple others) offered a rebadged CTC-11 so I wouldn't be shocked to see another clone-but this is clearly RCA branded. Seems like too cheap a set for such a big-wig, too.

I've seen the PILOT RADIO name around as late as the 90s, but sadly, as with other names such as DuMont and Capehart, it's 3rd World slave-built junk. So the story is probably OK, as they didn't specify when the husband was CEO. As far as prototype, ofcourse not. UNLESS this is an RCA-built PILOT prototype for marketing. Probably not though. I think the RCA Victor badge is missing :yes: .

I sent the guy and e-mail describing where he was wrong, and sent him some links and info so he could do some research on his set. Its nice to see that he actually did some homework

This seems to be the same model RCA remote CTC-11, complete with gold trim. Some kind of optional base?

That CTC-11 is mine...yes, the base is detachable under a table model set...the base does not actually have a speaker in it as it appears though.

I think it is not a remote set because I see no mic hole and the model # has no R in it. The model # is apparently missing an F after 212 as the field service guide lists it as a Farrell not a New Yorker as the seller stated. I am amazed at how many model #'s use the various chassis like the CTC-11. It would be real neat to see the photos of all the models.
It does not make sense that the owner of this set never moved it yet there is no base or legs. Why on the floor? It is a table model!
I like that base on Charlies set! It should not be left on the floor. I bet there are two little holes where the RCA Victor badge should be.
If I get rich quick I'll buy it! Maybe that man in Italy would like it. It reminds me of one of those two sets that a man from Romania posted that was a JVC. He had taken some subway across countries to get us a photo of two old roundies stacked in the lobby of some sort of counsolet/government building of some sort. I thought that was very thoughtful of him!

I think the remote on the set goes to that cable tuner.
