I just bought a made in Japan "Penncrest" color tv. Is this collectable at all? It has a noisy volume pot but otherwise good.
It's tube and the veneer cabinet is mint so I had to buy it. Kinda
still scratching my head why. Hope I re-sized the pic OK. Would
like to know opinions or? Do I keep original?

PS Are there any do's/don'ts to blowing out the insides with
115lbs. air pressure?

I've got a Pennrcrest, a very UGLY Penncrest. An all-gray plastic tube set. Very ugly. It has the strangest red, tends just a tad towards pink and that's as red as it gets. Yours is more attractive than mine. Everyone's is more attractive than mine which might win 'ugliest set'. Ugly, ugly. Seriously, I couldn't place a value on mine but if yours gives you pleasure, worth shouldn't be a consideration. I probably wouldn't use more than the force that comes out of the vacuum cleaner exhaust with a natural bristle paintbrush to loosen the dust. Any more'n that, you might risk damaging some of the filament-like wires that go to come of the exposed coil forms.

the thing has. Mostly concerned if it had problems, do I junk it?
I guess so. I know nothing about TV sets, but the amount of dust
can't be good. Thought high pressure air may not be a good idea
around the high voltage innards, but it sure would be easier. I
have a nice brush attachment for my vacum cleaner and will use
it instead. Sounds like the guy that did 50's eyeglass frames
did your TV!:rolleyes:

you have a panasonic.
if it has problems look at the 29kq6 and 30ae3.
very common failure.
also lytics in the doubler for b+
compressed air is ok if you keep the pressure low and stay away from the coils.
