I Need A Crt!

I am looking for anyone who has a 25GP22A crt, for a zenith console. Most important, I need the tinted lens for one. If anyone has a good RCA tube, or either a junk rca tube that has a good darker tinted lens, I would like to buy it. By the way, will a 25XP22 work as a sub for a GP22?

I'm pretty sure that I may come across this set and tube, and I have a fully functioning tester. Can you post a pic of a set that this tube might be commonly found in?

just about all 25a-23v delta gun types should work in old tube sets.
newer tubes will have the black matrix and more efficiant(brighter)phosphors.
for instace i just put a new zenith 23vcep22 in my old magnavox t940 tv stereo combo.
about doubled the brightness.
the 25zp22 that came out is still good but i need to relaminate it.
the worst cataracts i have ever seen.

I have an excellent 23V CRT fomr a late 70's Zenith chromacolor II. It should fit and work well in that set and would even look ok if you transplanted the frosted safety glass to it. It would be safe to remove it from the old tube if you broke the vacuum seal first. I'm in central PA, so getting it to you could be a problem.

is the original dead?
or are you trying to get rid of the green halo.

green halo!! Very bad! I cant deal with it. It is much harder to repair this than rca's cataracts. The bonding material is extremely thin twards the center of the screen, and it never really "drys" out, its very flexible and difficult to remove. I want to find an rca tube if available, cataracts or not.

Thanks!

andy, thanks for offering. Unfrotunatly the safety glass is badly cracked, thats why I want to find a new tube. ANy safety glasses out there?

andy 03-16-2003 12:19 AM

Well if the CRT is good, but the safety glass is cracked, you could transplant the safety glass from a dead RCA tube. It's a shame to scrap a zenith tube if it's good because they tend to hold up much better than RCAs.

the tube is in great shape, very bright. Dont worry, its a keeper. Just would need to find a lens off a dead rca tube for simplicity of repair.

unless you are hellbent on a dark face i would go for that zenith tube .probably a 23vce or vcm.
i may be changeing a xp22 for a friend soon that has bad cataracts and is worn out.
i can probably pull the safety glass and send it to you.

Hey that sound great kc8! Just let me know how much, and I will gladly send payment for your efforts.

i went and looked over the rca i will be changing the tube in.
surprise!
it has a 25bap22 zenith tube in it.
dead as hell with a pair of boosters on it.
faceplate is in good shape and confidence is high that i can remove it in one piece.
