1950's Capehart 24" b/w
1 Attachment(s)
We went to an estate sale last weekend and found a Capehart 24" b/w set. This was the estate of an old time TV/electronics man and he still had his old TRS-80 computer hooked up, had washing machine solenoids still plugged into timers to run the sprinklers, there was wind-driven alternators, etc. It's kind of sad to see someone's collection just abandoned but still hooked up like that, but we were able to save a lot of it.
Here is our story of the set with more pictures. This is a heavy-duty set with 2 5U4's and 6CD6GA horiz tube, CRT works but of course will need new caps: http://www.retroaudiolab.com/capehart-tv.htm |
Nice find. :thmbsp: I wish I could come across more sets like that here in california. The price is great too condisering what vintage TVs are going for on espray

It is sad to come across an estate like that. I've seen a few. Thats us someday! Yeah, thats me, I want to die as a "jack of all trades".
Did Capehart (or whoever owned the name) build this set, or is it something like a Wells-Gardner? I have a prewar Capehart console radio that is built like a tank but I think from there they v-e-r-y slowly went downhill. Good to see this one is still well built. |
Capehart tv
Nice set, Chad. Wish I had it. Bill
