I believe it means it has an aluminized screen.
Aluminized tubes eliminate the need for an Ion trap and have a superior, brighter picture compared to a non aluminized tube.

The 16EP4A has a tinted face, the 16EP4 has a clear face.
A 16EP4B has a tinted & frosted face.
