Details on a Vidicon Yoke?

Hello All!

I had no idea you could still find NOS deflection yokes for a 1" vidicon, but sure enough I took a gamble on a seedy site and got three!
It fits a 1" perfectly fine, and I count enough wires for H/V align, H/V deflect and focus. Issue is, I have no idea about the yoke! Seller claims it was made by Harris.
Wondering if anyone could give me a clue about the yoke, such as which wire is which.

Here are pictures of the yoke, with a vidicon chilling in it, and the wires.
Not shown is a blue and a black wire that run to the target.

Don't know, but would start with an ohmmeter to detect which wire pairs show continuity with each other and what the resistances are.

If I recall, the last one I tested had around the same ohms for horizontal and vertical windings. I seem to recall it being about 22 ohms. The focus winding was quite a bit higher ( perhaps 100 ohm?). This was on a Panasonic WV-033p. If you're in a bind I could go digging into it to confirm.

The one thing I find interesting is how little voltage and current it takes for deflection compared to a television. Mind you we're only deflecting about a 1/2" at best from the center.

Hmm... finally got around to: just testing the wires

None of the wires show continuity. Every one has some sort of resistance, but I couldn't find any shorts.

"None of the wires show continuity. Every one has some sort of resistance, but I couldn't find any shorts."

This statement makes no sense.
If you can read a resistance, there is continuity.
Where are you connecting your ohmmeter? One lead is connected to a wire, obviously, but where is the other lead connected?

Make a table with three columns.
Column A: first meter lead connection
Column B: second meter lead connection
Column C: resistance reading

Using alligator clips, I clipped to one wire then clipped the other to each of the wires coming out the the yoke.

I guess the wording should be, I found no direct shorts. But each wire had some resistance/continuity with every other wire.

Sorry, wrote that too quick since I forgot I had to submit something.

what sort of resistances are we talking about? Low (100 ohm or less) ? Or high resistance (1K or more)

What kind of meter are you using?

Really when studying the wiring it is not the normal arrangement. There's several wires with outer shielding. It must have been some special purpose or slow scan camera. Normally there is 6 unshielded wires going into the yoke.
2 for vertical deflection
2 for horizontal deflection
2 for focus.

Here is the yoke schematic for the Conar 500 which is pretty common.
Have you checked any of these wire with the Target wire?

I think the first question I need to ask before replying is...

What should I be using to check the coil?

Otherwise, the resistance is low. Around 5 ohms +/- 1ohm.

However, I'm going to pause this project for a little bit, I'm going to try to get my BVW-50 working in time for spring break.

Otherwise, I hope I'm not in the "stupid" realm. I would like to eventually have some form of camera when I finish the OP project while understanding analog better.

Any average DMM will do. It could very well be that low.
