Stromberg Carlson TS-16 Monmouth restoration
This is the only TV I picked up at the 2023 spring swapmeet auction. The label on the 16AP4 CRT stated it had recently been tested and had 0 emissions. Even so I like the early sets so decided to bid on it. Only one other bidder and I won it for $80.

Maybe that's a good thing :scratch2: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...095afdea_c.jpg Once back home, I was able to coax some emissions out of it, but still in the red. It has been sitting in my garage for the past two months. Much to my surprise I was contacted by another collector a few days ago with an offer to donate a good 16AP4. It was very well packed and arrived without a scratch. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...c12f6a04_c.jpg Sure enough, it tests good. These CRTs are only 54 degree deflection and quite long. I hope to muscle the set inside next weekend with the help of a friend. It is quite a beast! Then, I'll finally get a closer look at it. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...c624464c_c.jpg |
You could have had that set for free a few years ago. Circa 2021-22 the ETF was trying to give away that and about a dozen other lower desirability monochrome consoles to make room.
Glad it ended up with you. |
