GE 14T017 Portable TV set image shrunk!
2 Attachment(s)
Just finished recapping this little GE TV set, replaced all the caps, and tubes are all strong, even the vertical tube...not sure why I'm getting a half picture? No amount of adjustments make a significant difference; centering rings, vertical height, linearity, etc...
Maybe a bad resistor somewhere? |
If you don't yet have the Sams on it, that should your next mission. Once you have that, begin checking voltages in the vertical deflection circuit and compare them to the figures listed in the Sams..... :thmbsp:

Double check the cap values. Check resistor values starting with R58 the 3.3 meg connected to pin 6 of the tube.
|
IIRC vertical linearity is fed off the boost. Make sure you have good boost at the lin pot.
|
Especially check R58 (3.3 meg), the plate load resistor of the vert osc. It's a frequent failue point due to being hammered by high level spike (drifts 'waay high in value). Common failure across all brands of sets that use boost for the vert osc.
