Rusty CTC-22 resurrection
 

I got this a few months ago, was a victim of long term outdoor storage and the chassis got pretty rusty as a result. I stripped it down completely to clean and zinc plate the pieces so they would look good again. I had to replace the damper diode (of course) and so far borrowed the tubes out of my other CTC-22 for testing, since the ones in this set were either missing or had white getters. All the FP electrolytic cans had to be restuffed. CRT tested nice and strong, so I was encouraged to do an extensive restoration like this.

Well damn! That puts the restoration work I'm doing on my CTC22 to shame! And I thought I was nuts for just pulling the boards individually... :D

That really looks great. How'd you remove the rust on your chassis? Mine looks similar and I was planning on simply leaving it as-is and keeping it dry stored to minimize rust spread. But if there's a good way to get it off without essentially turning the set into a build-it-yourself kit I'd love to know!

On this one, I had to take it all the way apart, because I had to do electrolysis on the parts, as well as bead blast some of the pieces, and acid dip then plate in a plating bath.

think it would work again. If it came in the shop I would have
shown you the door.
