Sony KV 1929R excessive HV

first problem ever with this set, Found nothing obvious but really need a manual to go farther, is there a place to download these that isnt behind a paywall?

Just not worth spending $ on this set, its been a great TV but owes me nothing but willing to fix if I can

Thanks

Keith

The only problems we had with these sets and excessive high voltage were caused by the STK583F voltage regulator/audio output IC. It's mounted to the back metal apron of the chassis. Caps C605 and C541 should also be checked. If you're not getting at least a 20 volt drop across R607, one of those parts is the problem.

This is helpful! THANKS! let me dig in, Ill post what I find. If I can get this going the next Sony is a KV 1515, never had the back off either but sat 10 years and now the picture is flashy with noise and no audio, I still havent peeped inside this one yet.

BTW, LOVE the porthole! I have the 1950 version of this.

If the sets going into shut down also watch out for a bad
H-Stat assy. To test unhook the thin red wire to it. They
crack & arc, sometimes they are not cracked.

BTW On most old Sonys the HV wire is coax. There is a little spring on
the CRT to make the center connection. Use caution removing it.

Be careful about buying stk modules from ebay as some of them are fakes.
