Barney Miller - 1979 Jack Soo memories
 

I watched this special 30 minute tribute last night on the garage set - 1959 Motorola table model, while processing antenna rotors for pure aluminum scrap. The dead pan humor and style of this actor will never be matched. It was a space in time when NYC had a reputation and Jack nailed the disaffected detective better than anyone at the time. I laughed so hard, it was good to be in that garage so I did not wake anyone.

The memory of watching this same tribute after tuning in the original on my 1966 RCA roundie CTC16XL, it hit me hard. I was back in 10th grade, recalling how much happiness I brought folks whose sets I resurrected after being told to buy a new one, especially the poorer folks it seemed.

We almost all watched the same stuff back then, before all the variety of cable fox, cw, etc. We all laughed together and it seems so far away now. :sigh:
