JVC recorder
 

I re-wired my obsolete format dubbing rack this week to simplify it and get it to a MPEG4 Clearclick digi recorder finally (in a/v mode to preserve 4x3). VHS/Betamax/3/4" Umatic/Betacam/DVD/8mm/RCA camera adaptor/DVCAM/bar generator/Sony DVMC Firewire in the rack. All through a Studio 1 proc from the 90's to a vintage Panasonic 10x1 a/v switcher and a new 8x1 a/v DA to pass it all around to Textronix scopes, Sony 9" monitor, JVC field sequential 4" monitor (rare on its own) and the Clearclick.

The best part is the JVC SR-V10U VHS deck. It was sold as a Super VHS Professional deck around 2003 and it is the best. The best is the onboard TBC/NR function. This thing will clean up anything. The pics below are a look at the head switch with/without the TBC/NR. All fixed and the noise in any chroma is smoothed out. Pics are from a 1986 Showtime concert VHS that plays like new. My 1989 off-air copy of Peter Pan is better than the store-bought version. The Studio 1 also adds new sync. Save your VHS tapes and players.

The SR-V10U is a low end professional deck for dupication work. . Unfortunately, it can't be externally synced to feed into a production switcher without a frame sync in between. The best pro SVHS decks in my opinion are the Panasonic ag7650 player and ag7750 recorder.
