Sony LDP-1000A Service Manual WANTED
My old Sony Laserdisk player is getting a little tired. If it does lock in it will play an entire side of a disk with no problems. Even old MCA Discovision disks. However, after warming up the spindle servo just hunts.
I don't even know the theory of operation on this thing. Does it focus lock before attempting to spin up like Pioneer? If anyone has a service manual for this thing I would like to purchase or rent it. Maybe scan and email selected pages. The guy selling one on eBay was a bust. Oh I only have the Operations Manual. If you have any experience with this thing drop me a line. I have fixed 100's of things in my 40+ years as a technician without a schematic. I just need somewhere to start. Thanks Doogie |
I did find these via the fantastic LaserDisc Database website but I'm not sure they'll help?

Sony LDP-1000A Service Manual
Yes I have found those two too. They are everywhere. I'll give this site a couple of weeks to see what develops. Then its on the bench. ESR the caps then on to reverse engineering.
Even a sequence of operations will help. I don't like the idea of an exposed disk spinning at 1500+ rpm. It could do a hole lot of hurt if it brakes loose. |
I ran my Pioneer VP-1000 naked while running, a 12' platter running at 1800 RPM deserves some respect but it can be done.
I ended up doing a complete re-cap of the VP-1000 using the better kits from Amazon. It plays well but it's more of a shelf queen as I use a Philips CDV-488 as my main player, it too needs a complete re-cap but I've struck out on the service manual. |
