Color on Channel 4 but not 3
 

Have a Trinitron KV-1201, from ~1971. Displays color on Channel 4, via converter box, only black and white on channel 3. I'm thinking it's an issue in the tuner. If so, any recommendations on tracing the fault?

1) Make sure it's not the converter box by trying it with another set
2) If the converter is verified OK, check the KV-1201 fine tuning on channel 3 to see if it's far off (someone who has experience with this set could tell us if it has separate fine tuning settings for each VHF channel or not)

I discovered that you need to push in the fine tuning control to engage it. From there I was able to tune in the color information portion of the signal.

Tuners 101
Its normal to be able to fine tune ( FT) one station above & below
the channel selected IF they are in the same band. So if you are
on ch3 you can FT down to ch2 ( CCW ) or up to ch4 ( CW).
If on ch6 you can go to ch5 but ch7 is a different band so
instead you start to get FM radio.
BTW when you FT turn off any auto color or AFT switches.
