Here’s my new bench , started on it yesterday

Lots more to do to finish it but WOW I now have room to work 😀

why 2 clocks?

and that IS a very retro looking clock on the left, but, why 2? :P

That chassis on the bench looks like something I saw earlier this year in one of shango66's videos, from a TraVler TV, the rectifier tube sticking out of the power x-former is very distinctive! :D

I'd recommend having a test equipment shelf high enough above the bench that you can have an computer monitor or AIO PC (I got an old one free from work that I use) on the wall behind the bench to display downloaded schematics and such. The less test equipment you have on the chassis space of the bench the cleaner your work area....and that is important if you tend to have multiple projects going at once like me.

I have enough test gear that I have an overflow shelf that I keep the stuff I use least on.

Another thing that's nice to have is an old plastic record bin from a scrapped 60s audio console resting on a ledge on the side of the bench....I keep my most used hand tools on the bench, but the ones I need occasionally I put there to reduce clutter....If I put them farther away the time and annoyance in tracking them down makes me leave them on the chassis space making clutter.

It isn't bad to have a working TV, VCR and stereo on the bench both for entertainment (I've been known to recap to music or while a TV program I'm following is on), and for diagnostic purposes. You can feed audio into and out of a good stereo for troubleshooting audio stages (and use it to test component stereo/HIFI gear if you work on that), the bench TV can check signal, alignment and test pattern sources, the VCR can act as a source of RF and composite video and can take composite video in for troubleshooting other signal sources.

This was told to me by my HS English teacher, and I still live by it to this day! :)

Lol. Well then despite what others have told me , you have convinced me I'm quite sane.:D
The first few years, between test equipment and tools my bench would become such a mess I'd have to spend time just to make a space big enough to set a chassis.


The glowing computer monitors are my working from home day job rig.....With them gone I could work on 2-3 things at once a lot easier.

I have to work messy to work efficient, but there's limits to where that works against me...I more or less have found my balance...Next time I move I want to reshuffle my service literature file cabinets, test equipment/parts chassis/project set/display overflow shelves and tube caddies to put the things I need adjacent to my bench closer to it.

Why 2 clocks ?
Well the one on the left was my parents from the 50’s/60’s.
The other one is a Mustang Car clock as another of my hobbies is 65/66 mustangs , have a 66 Fastback I restored a couple years ago.

So that’s the story on the 2 clocks. May replace them with vintage Tv Service signs or clocks.

Oh shit I have that exact same clock! The gold-ish starburst one. It's in my mechanic shop. It's been there for decades, from the previous owners. Apparently they had owned it since new in whatever decade they got it.

Wew that's better than my workbench, A small shelf above would be perfect. When I did the KCS-95? I just worked on it on a plastic folding Lifetime table. I might reconfigure one of my unused reloading benches into an electronics bench and do away with that card table I use now. I have the Adcom amp I'm working on sitting on a speaker box at the moment, for fear that it will collapse my current "bench".

Too uncluttered... sign of a sick mind.
