1987 RCA Dimensia showing programming from 1987

Man there was a lot happening back in 1987. Everything from Soviet economic restructuring, to some joker taking over the airwaves in Chicago.

I've seen your topic (thread) with you talking about it after I've read this one. Good to see that it's working.

Thanks. Yeah I have something better in the planning stages. The TV has a wonderful tuner in it! Well, 2 tuners technically. Very sensitive and they deliver an excellent image.

So I'm going to use that wonderful tuner and capture more over the air signals from the past...

2 tuners? What was the reason?

... because they could...? But yeah the set has two separate tuners, selectable via remote control.

I can see one reason for such a setup. One would be for your satellite system that had 500 channels but no local channels, and the other tuner would be for your over the air local channels.

Or, you know, one tuner for your cable system and the other for your game consoles?

Great set, RCA named it just wrong, though.

Mmmm Nope. Nothing on this TV indicates it has PiP.

Oldest set I saw that had PiP was from 1991.

I've had an 1988 "Hitachi" V.C.R. with P'n'P'.

I remember those RCA sets. They had ads all over Video Mag and Video Review Magazine promoting their systems.. .

My late mother had a 1990's 27 inch Sony with PIP.I got it here in the garage..Cant recall the mod number..

1987 she was still using her 1972 Motorola Quasar 19 inch set..Have that here somewhere too.

At that time in 1987 My late dad was using a Zenith 27 inch MTS Stereo TV along with his Fisher HiFi stereo VCR which was used together with his Pioneer setup........

So you could watch 2 shows at once and leave the VCR free to record a third one. Single-tuner PIP required the VCR's tuner.
