GE 810 TV Restoration
 

Just when you thought it was safe to go out again -- yet another tale of restoring a GE Model 810 TV:

I actually finished this project a while back, but didn't think to post about it until now.

Thanks, as always, to those who offered advice & encouragement along the way. This project was a little more work than I initially expected. (Say, what? A short circuit inside the deflection yoke?!) But it worked out in the end.

Does anybody know why the filament of the oscillator tube (V2a) in the tuner is fed by DC while the other section of the same tube (the mixer)(V2b) is fed by AC? Does it have anything to do with frequency drift?

Just read Phil's restoration article. Now I understand the reason for the DC on the filament. That raises another question. Did many (or any) other manufacturers use this design?
