Sony VP-2000

Got a sony VP-2000 U-matic machine yesterday. It has a tape In it and it won’t eject. I can press the eject button and the little light above the button lights up, but will not do anything. The other controls won’t do anything either. I hope I don’t sound to dumb, this is first videotape machine I’ve tried to fix.

Umatic was the precursor to Betamax. Mostly used in industry medical or university for classroom purposes. Probably will need a bunch of rubber belts replaced to start with. It will be built like a tank. I remember them being very heavy for there size. Good luck with your project.

Early decks like that should have at a minimum some easily noticable motor noise when doing anything that requires tape movement....I have a functional VO-1600 umatic and you notice when it does something.
