Some recent finds
 

I haven't had much time for restoration projects lately, but I did pick up a few sets.

First up a Predicta Holiday sold off by the Chicago Museum of Broadcast Communications. Only $45 and local pickup. Not legs or CRT back but I figure it was worth that for parts if nothing else.

Discovered later it has a replacement CRT with a longer neck that tests fair. CRT back cover would have needed spacers or something. Probably why they left it off.

Next up a couple sets off craigslist. A small house out in the western burbs was being clear out after the owner passed away. He had collected a few old TVs, radios and ham gear.

Got the pair for only $80.

First a classic Philco 50T-1403 in pretty good shape including the back.

Finally, the set I really wanted. An Emerson 628 with an Ingrham designed cabinet. It has all the knobs tucked away inside.

Here's one in better condition. I hope my cabinet will look as nice once touched up.

Chassis was sliding around inside with no bolts to hold it down.

Now. Do we need to have a chat with your wife and/or employer to get you some more free time to make more videos? I miss my weekly dose of "Hey guys". :D

He dug up a couple more sets for me to take a look at. One from the basement and one from the attic maybe ?
I believe they are first generation rectangular sets from around 1950.
A bakelite Admiral and a wood Motorola. Both 16-17"
I'l try to get out there next week sometime.

Wow, That Emerson sure is nice. Ingrham sure used some beautiful veneer's and cabinet work. Nice score!

Curious about the Emerson. Maybe it is just a bad photo, but It looks like the TV portion (right side) dial glass is missing or broken. Hopefully it is just tucked away safely inside the set. It would be kind of a drag if you had to have RadioDaze make a reproduction for it.

I can see lettering in both dial scales...Your monitor may be pulling near black colors black.

Yr new Motorola looks a lot like the one, as I remember, anyhow, in the 1968 horror/scifi classic "Night of the Living Dead", a flick I've long been a big fan of. 1st time I saw it, I was in college, way on the other side of campus from my dorm. Its a dumber than hell movie, but I was in a dead run by the time I got to my dorm, them gotdang Zombies were coming out from behind cars & EVERYTHING to Get Me.. The boy who lived in the next room asked me What the Hell is wrong w/you ?!?, & laughed his ass off when I told him... Guess I deserved it, but it was midnite/midnite thirty, I'd just seen the most scary movie I'd seen in a long time, YOU walk across a deserted campus w/little lighting, & tell me YOU ain't Scared, Jack.....

Yes indeed. Both dial scales are present. Hope to get more pictures next week

Doubt it. I'm pretty sure Motorola never use metal shell CRTs.
