Hi All! I just got this from Epay today and contrary to the listing description, it does work. the problem was that the 300 to 75 ohm balun had a broken wire. but would work fine from the 75 ohm connectors. I have had fun hooking it up to few antennas and seeing how directional each one was. this unit also picks up the fm band and i used it to listen to radio.as well. i found out today what 8vsb tv modulation sounds like. This unit can be kinda useful in a post analog world.

Loud Static! the only way you can know that it is a digital signal and not background noise is that it read around 100 microvolts above background noise, had a fairly flat bandwidth of around 6 Mhz and was a directional signal while rotating the antenna. I Googled 8vsb and it is a technology closer to magic than science. One of the weird things that is done during transmission is the the bits are pseudo randomized so there is a complete usage of the channel band with a equal distribution of energy. Whew my mind and fingers are tired from that concept.
