Trying To Identify The Year This Tv Was Made
 

I have an Rca color tv and I am trying to find a picture and info on the year the tv was made. Someone on Vk posted a 1967 Rca color catalog. My tv cabinet looks exactly like the "Chatillon " model execpt for the model number and the control panel. The '67 catalog calls this model GH-768. My set says GH-759 on the back panel. I think maybe a '66? Any help is appreciated.

I'd say 66, altho could have been sold in the 67 line-up. It's a CTC-24

With the fancy cabinet, it's probably a CTC25, a better chassis. The 24 and 25 used the tuning scheme, where you pushed the channel selector knob to engage the fine tuner gears. The tuners were electronically different from chassis to chassis. :scratch2:

I do have to push the channel selector knob in to fine tune the picture.

This cabinet started out as a CTC-21, but the next year it was switched to the CTC-25. They called it the Beauchamp.

I have a CTC21 and it is a later model, 1968 model year. The tube compliment is slightly different. The TMA is a better design. :thmbsp:

What does TMA stand for?

Are you sure it's a CTC-21, or is it a CTC-30?

Tuner Mounting Assembly - RCA made a separate directory for TMAs. I have one. It lists all the parts (pots, tuner(s), gears, shafts, resistors, caps, screws, motors, switches, etc) on the tuner assembly and provides wiring data. Important if you only have the Sams - too many TMAs for one chassis, so Sams never bothered, or used the base model, and listed remote sets in a separate suffixed Sams folder.

The TMA directory is a rare animal - I've seen exactly two show up on eBay - both were snatched up, so at least two others here probably have the same directory. Mine goes to 70ish - I don't think it has XL100 sets in it.

One more question. Does the serial number tell you the month-year that the set rolled off the assembly line? The serial number is 24BDD9498.

Not quite sure about that, I'll ask my friend who is an RCA expert and I'll get back with you. Here is a TV similar to yours, but this one was a CTC-25 all along, whereas yours was a CTC-21 for the first year of that cabinet.
My friend said that the serial number has no known correlation to the date of manufacture, however, if the CRT is original, you can look at the date on its sticker.

Here is some advertising for the Beauchamp. All of these started out as CTC-21's, but they changed them to CTC-25's.
