The ad says his dad built the TV.

Seller wants $50.

His dad "built" it?

Heathkit?

Could be one of the later 630 chassis kits from the 50s

I'm thinking that maybe his dad pulled the chassis from a console and made the table top cabinet?

Also does the round yoke disconnect look familiar to a certain make?

I've seen that speaker cutout before..... I wanna say I saw it on a RCA.....

Also I saw this picture of a 1954 Admiral from TVHistory website.

He might have used an Admiral cabinet but who made the chassis? It doesn't look like an Admiral.

From the CRT bezel, I'm inclined to think it may be a Capehart chassis.

I have this Consumer Reports from June 1954 where they reviewed a couple of "Custom Chassis" TV sets. They were sold as something that could be built in to custom furniture. Maybe this was something similar that the "builder" made a custom cabinet for?

The reviewed sets were the Tech-Master 2430 (they said it was equivalent to an RCA 630) and the Craftsmen C200 series (C210V, C210P, 224R and C450). You provided the cabinet and picture tube. The Craftsmen did not come with a speaker, the Tech-Master did.

Remote control? I guess having the chassis located 20 feet away is the remote control?
They beat the Predicta Tandem by five years on that one.

That top CRT is pretty squared off for 1954.

I'm not sure it was a custom chassis from any of the 2 pictures. The TV we are trying to identify has 4 small controls between 2 large controls on the front.

I'm trying to get some more pics of the chassis and any identifying markings. More to come.

That remotely placed chassis as remote idea is older than that. I've seen late 40's-early 50's electronics mags with articles on custom sets like that, as well as ones where only part of the chassis was placed remotely (safer than running xx' of HV wire).

Yeah, you're right on that, but maybe there were other manufacturers doing the same thing with other chassis? Or maybe it's from a newer model year?
