Emerson EV-406N VCR With A SYSCON Problem

(A.K.A. Daewoo DV-K406N)

Symptom: when 'stop' is pressed, the tape is not wound back into the cassette. This makes it impossible to rewind the tape at full speed and causes an emergency shutdown when attempted. However, the tape winds back in properly when ejecting. The other controls work properly as well.

The mode encoder switch has been cleaned and several poor capacitors in the power supply have been replaced, but the problem still persists. What else could it be?

I'd put that behind my back tire and go in reverse. Nah, might damage my tire. Not worth it. Far too many good vcr out there to have to settle for this. I never had an emerson or daewoo. Can't give me them.:thumbsdn:

Look for a JVC or Sharp S-VHS model....Those will out preform and outlast that Daewoo.

A lot of VCRs starting in the 90's didn't retract the tape back into the case when in Stop, Rew or FF.

Fixed! The capstan belt was slipping. A tighter belt has allowed it to rewind the tapes that were previously triggering an emergency shutdown.
