By 1950, though, weren't those 10-inch rectangular-bezel Admirals (30A15 and similar) out-of-date themselves?

Yeah, definitely 1948. In fact, there's no mention whatsoever of LP records, just a "miracle tone arm" which makes me wonder if the earliest Triple Thrill combos might have been equipped with a 78-only turntable. Does anybody know?

The seller said 1950, but there is no proof, so, happy to have it corrected.

Can't go out of date huh?....So there must be a matching 15" color set, and a second audio amp module with updated FM MPX stereo and RTR tape deck right? :D

If there were enough of those cabinets made it could be fun making a series of update modules (representing tech between then and now) for them out of orphan (primarily) Admiral chassis.

My late 40s Philco Triple Thrill has a 78 only player, so I guess some exist.
An Admiral console (also '48) is advertised as having a 2 speed changer:

I have a bakelite table R/P with a 2 speed (78/33) changer like the one in the ad....I've seen 78RPM only and 78/33 versions of my table model too.

So today, for that $499, you can get a HD flat panel TV that is as large as the entire cabinet of the Admiral. And it is guaranteed to go out of date, or fail prematurely on the way...

The going rate for "standard" 1080i HD sets of almost any size is $200 on CL, locally. Looks like lots of folks are planning to dip their toes into the 4K pond this Christmas.

There is one like that, but it is almost 1000 feet long. It contains the 20 million tubes needed for the matching tube-type digital-TV converter.
