Dumpster Save
 

You have probably heard this story before. Dad had a TV repair buisness back in the day. Mom passed on recently and the house was sold. Kids are cleaning out the garage and don't want any of dad's old gear. So I saved a bunch of old gear from the dumpster. Most of it probably wasn't worth saving but there might be a few gems in here.

I have no use for most of this stuff. There are a couple old RF signal generators that I might play around with but the rest of the test equipment is up for grabs, probably free if you come and take it away.

I was told the radio was from a B-24. I'm keeping that. The TV looking thing I was told is a picture tube dummy. It has RCA on the handle but I don't see any other markings. Anyone know what it is?

HEEEEY. I know that knob arrangement on the signal generator in the back of that pic. Is that a Precision E-200-C?

Those Sprague cabinets - any caps inside? Interested to see..

Also, a Mark III RCA jig, I believe - nice, and useable with any RCA chassis to CTC76 at least - that was the last chassis we used with ours.

Man, and I could really use some of that test equipment you've got. Too bad it'd take a week to get to ya.

That RCA CRT test jig is nice.....Not many had a built in dynamic convergence system like that. Most of that stuff at that distance and size would be unaffordable to me right now.....But if you have any Magnavox 2 button TV remotes I might be interested.

Yes it is. That's one of the pieces I'll probably hold on to. I'd like to have something to do FM tuner alignments. Is it any good, worth fixing?

I assume you mean the TV looking thing. The screen looks like the lining is kind of mottled like it's deteriorating. Is there any way to check it without having a TV chassis to connect it to?

There were some RCA remotes. Are they worth anything?

That screen issue we call a cataract....It is fixable, and has no bearing on whether the tube works or not. You would need a CRT tester to check it....You can do a heater continuity test, but honestly it's probably fine.

Those remotes are worth 5-10$ to the right person.

The two sons were there and what I didn't take went directly into a dumpster in front of the house or went home with them.

The CRT test jig is the same one we discussed a few weeks ago.
I'm going to bring along to the swap meet, the second sunday of November.
It includes most of the cables and adaptors. Expect to see you there!

The receiver is a BC348. They made several different variations of that model. The last of the series is a BC348Q, made by Wells-Gardner. Everone seemed to like that one a little better. The earlier models were made by RCA, Belmont and Stromberg-Carlson, plus a few others.
The latest models used single ended tubes, 6SK7, 6SA7 ETC, where the earlier models used the grid-cap metals, 6K7, ETC and a few UX types, 6B7 and 41 and a mess of oil type capacitors. :scratch2:

There's a lot of information on the internet on that receiver. It's built like a tank and almost as heavy as one.
