1970 Zenith 23" B&W console set
I picked this one up about a week ago, it was a local find. Another one of those robust late model 14N22 B&W consoles. Still works fine and wasn't used a whole lot over the years. This one is from 1970. The guy I got it from bought it from the estate of the original owner in Chicago about 2 years ago. He only used it as a prop in his barber shop in the city, then got bored of it and flipped it on craigslist. So now I have it...
I recently had the '69 version, but always preferred the layout of the '70 model much more with the "T" shaped tuning knobs. https://farm1.staticflickr.com/716/2...4c2240e3_h.jpgDSC03784 by drh4683, on Flickr https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5762/...da564454_h.jpg1970 Zenith B&W TV (14N22 chassis) by drh4683, on Flickr https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5655/...a05b12b9_h.jpg1970 Zenith B&W TV (14N22 chassis) by drh4683, on Flickr https://farm1.staticflickr.com/630/2...efa8b266_h.jpg1970 Zenith B&W TV (14N22 chassis) by drh4683, on Flickr https://farm1.staticflickr.com/773/2...06a26ea5_h.jpg1970 Zenith B&W TV (14N22 chassis) by drh4683, on Flickr https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5702/...13351fbd_h.jpg1970 Zenith B&W TV (14N22 chassis) by drh4683, on Flickr https://farm1.staticflickr.com/679/2...c65ed039_h.jpg1970 Zenith B&W TV (14N22 chassis) by drh4683, on Flickr |
Another Great Find !
You Go Boy ! ! I was gunna ask this once, and I may have, and forgotten..... What are those wings on the right and left of the yoke ? Is that a touch-up for width, or shaping at the far edges of the screen....? . |

I'll have to look at the one I have! I also don't remember the focus control. I thought the pot on the chassis rear was the width control, but I see the width sleeve around the CRT neck.
The set appears to have never been repaired, except for the horiz osc tube with the red printing.. :scratch2: |
Nice set and that chassis was, IMHO, the best tube B&W chassis built by anyone, at any time. I still have the '69 Version and it still works fine. Some of you may recall me buying it from a local thrift store. That was the situation where I got so pissed off at the price and their attitude that I went back in there and bought the set with loose change.

Wow, near mint condition !. Great find.

Really nice set, I wish I could find a Zenith like that. As a matter of fact I wish I could find a Zenith period. I have yet to come across a single Zenith TV or radio. I had one guy bring me a TV for repair and that the only one I have seen in my area.

Damn fine looking set, and a really nice contemporary cabinet that will look great anywhere. Nice score!

It was a standard issue job at a typical company that made a boring product... |
