Picked up a 49 Hoffman 12"
 

Lovely ain't it? I left the rest of the cabinet in his mini storage. the front of the cabinet literally fell off while I was testing the CRT!

Seller was stubborn so I wound up paying pretty much what a good 12" CRT is worth (it checks very good) I also got most of the knobs, a back, a front trim plate and of course a chassis, which I'll probably strip for parts to save space (I already have a nicer one sitting in the garage).

He also had a couple of 1958 RCA Jetsons looking 17" metal portables but they were very rusty, inside and out, also the CRT's were very, very dead.
I left them there but told him someone might give him the $50 each he wanted if they just wanted something for a retro project of some sort.
Better to fishtank junk than something fixable.

The metal RCA Deluxe sets are difficult to restore due to the unusual design of the chassis'. Many repairman just pass on them.

Second that. I won't work on them.

Components packed between layers of chassis hardwired together. Of course, RCAs don't break down. They're RCA.
